Safety Approach

Our commitment to safety

People are our greatest resource and most valuable asset. We value their safety above all else. Our Safety Program is rooted in the belief that when you put people first, success will follow. Our Value-Based Safety Program requires worker buy-in and global thinking, as opposed to a Priority-Based Program which emphasizes specific tasks, outcomes and statistical results. Safety is everyone’s job. We encourage employees to think of working safely as protecting their neighbors, their families and their friends. Safety is a way of life and a constant endeavor. Our goal is simple: we want every worker to go home safely to their families every night.

Safety is The Most Important Thing We Do Each Day

Simply put, our number one priority every day, year after year, is to ensure that our employees and team members return home safely to their loved ones each night. It’s partly because a company where employees are viewed as our greatest and most valuable asset. But more importantly, we emphasize safety, because simply, it’s the right thing to do.

Proactive Approach in safety

Our formal and proactive safety program is actively managed by a trained and dedicated staff of safety professionals and is best summarized in four words: Communication, Training, Motivation and Monitoring. These points are reinforced in the following ways:

  • A safe work environment is provided by preplanning and by minimizing and eliminating hazards. Where existing hazards cannot be eliminated, their harmful effects are minimized through environmental controls, training in safe work methods, and by providing and requiring the use of personal protective equipment
  • Each DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE team member is trained to develop and maintain the skills required to perform their work safely
  • Communications between DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE team members and supervisors are an important part of our program and are used to expedite handling of suggestions for the minimizing and elimination of work hazards
  • Regular motivation methods such as lunches and on-going merchandise/incentive awards are employed to encourage employee participation in safe work methods and correcting onsite conditions
  • Scheduled and surprise inspections are conducted regularly to identify potentially unsafe conditions and to provide immediate correction
  • Before each work activity our foremen have been trained to perform a hazard analysis with their crew to discuss how to safely perform each task assigned
  • Before any employee takes to the field their supervisor meets with them in the job site office to explain how important their safety is to him/her and to the company
  • All new employees are identified so that our seasoned employees can mentor them while working on site

  • All DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE employees and tradespeople are provided the training and tools to produce results.
  • More than a program, ours is an approach focused on identifying and eliminating potential issues together, so the quality standards achieved on each and every DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE project are truly Quality without Question.

The Culture of Quality at DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE

At DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE, “quality” is not a single activity but a series of many linked activities integrated into our day-to-day construction and project management process. These are proactively planned, performed and tracked from the earliest stages of a project during preconstruction, through construction and past final completion.

Our integrated approach to Quality without Question results in real value to all team members. Here’s how:

For Owners :
Value through clear design documents resulting in lower bids, integrated construction quality activities eliminating rework, earlier completion schedules, tested and verified system and assembly performance eliminating operational issues, and ultimately reducing operating costs.

For Architects and Engineers :
Value through clear design documents reducing requests for information and eliminating change orders, an integrated punch list process, and reduced efforts on your part to have to review and approve project components.

For Subcontractors :
Value through clear understanding of quality expectations, a provided means to achieve these through mock-up construction and testing, streamlined work-flow, and elimination of the end-of-project issues you typically encounter.

For End-Users :
Value through a project that meets your needs without delays or nuisance issues during your first year of use, positive impressions of the project and your productive use of the owner’s investment.

Quality Focus Initiatives Our Quality without Question program focuses on key initiatives to proactively approach and resolve quality issues quickly. Quality Processes

Establishing this takes more than adopting a slogan. We believe success requires the integration of critical quality characteristics into everything we do. All quality processes, across all industries:

  • A Defined End Goal – Clear definition of the end goal of the quality process and project is imperative to success.
  • Work Done Right the First Time – Rework is costly and a waste of material and manpower. All DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE quality processes focus on how to do work right the first time and eliminate rework.
  • Individual Responsibility for Quality – The individual doing the work can only do it right the first time if they are given the right information and tools when they need them. Therefore, our quality processes focus on providing these to the individual and then holding them responsible for achieving the expected level of quality.
  • Verification, Not Inspection – Inspection finds problems already made. On the other hand, the verification process identifies and resolves an issue before they are systemic and additional work occurs over them. Therefore, our quality processes focus on the on-going verification of quality achievement and not only inspection at the end.
  • Long-Term Focus – All DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE quality processes look beyond the creation of a product to how it is used and its long-term success.
  • Improved Quality Results in Lower Costs – The bottom line of all quality processes is to provide value to all stakeholders. If the process does not provide value, then it will not be embraced and maintained.
  • ISO – The ISO Standards provide an excellent framework for the creation and management of quality programs. DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE has adopted standard policies and procedures that follow ISO standards to provide us with a robust framework and consistency between all of our projects.
  • Commissioning Process – The aim of adopting the commissioning process on your project is simple-to ensure all building systems are fully functional when you occupy the facility. DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE fully integrates an owner’s commissioning process into the project through: embedding your Commissioning Authority as part of the project team; and integrating the detailed commissioning requirements from the specifications into the project through a commissioning responsibility matrix. DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE then coordinates commissioning activities as the building systems are installed, started, tested and balanced and documented. We conduct training sessions with staff and users on the operation of all systems, as well as on-going first year involvement in the seasonal testing and training commissioning activities to continue proper system operation.
  • Six Sigma – Six Sigma is a robust set of quality tools to reduce error in a process. DIGJA INFRASTRUCTURE has integrated several of these tools, including quantitative analysis and statistical thinking, committed and strong leadership, hierarchy of highly-trained individuals, performance measuring and reporting, and reward and recognition systems.
